RECIPES FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2020

Posted on 24/08/2020 11:00 NEWS

Labor Day might look a little different than usual this year, but don’t let that stop you from having the best (and safe) celebration on the block! We rounded up a few family-approved recipes and threw in some drinks and sides to fill the table. 😉

Jeujed Up Grilled Sausage

We all love some classic grilled sausage, but why not take it to the next level this year? We have a few topping ideas for you that will have everyone’s taste buds singing.

White Bean Salad

Great on top of your sausage or as a side, this protein-packed bean salad is super easy to make. Start by making the dressing, using extra virgin olive oil, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, salt, and pepper. Once that is well-whisked, add rinsed and drained Cannellini beans, chopped red onion, parsley, and rosemary. Toss together and let chill for an hour before serving!

Bruschetta

Another super easy recipe to put together, finely chop 4 large tomatoes and toss in a bowl with 4 T olive oil, 2 thinly sliced garlic cloves, ¼ c thinly sliced basil, 2 T balsamic vinegar and a pinch of salt. This light and flavorful topping will contrast beautifully with any of our grillers!

Drink Pairings

Chardonnay, Mojito Pitcher, or Fest Bump Summer Shandy from Couch Brewery.

In case you’d like to explore more creative toppings for your Uncle Charley’s Sausage, we’ve put together an awesome list for you to try here.

Marmalade Baked Sausage

This delicious bake features great seasonal flavors and requires very minimal prep or cook time. That means more time to hang out with the crew! 🙌

All you need to do is preheat your oven to 425 degrees and bake one package of Uncle Charley’s Pork Sausages, olive oil, warmed marmalade, apple cider (we’d snag it from Threadbare Cidery!), onion, pear, mustard and some garlic. Roast them for 20 minutes, basting every 5 minutes or so.

Sides

Cucumber salad and baked apples

Drink Pairings

Brut, Cucumber Spritzer, or Krisp Cans from Gristhouse Craft Brewery

Sausages Braised with Bacon and Cider

This modern take on bangers and mash featuring a cider gravy is PERFECT for fall. We promise it’ll warm everyone right up. 🍁

Add a pack of whole Uncle Charley’s Pork Sausages and vegetable oil into a casserole dish. Cook until brown. Then, remove the sausage and add 6 rashers of bacon and 1 sliced onion to the pan. Stir for 5 minutes, or until golden brown. Sprinkle 1 T of flour to thicken, then stir in 2 c of your favorite cider. Simmer for a few minutes, then add 1 t Dijon mustard. Add the sausages back into the casserole and simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Sides

Roasted Potatoes and Summer Squash Salad

Drink Pairings

Farmhouse Cider from Threadbare (yep, the same stuff from the recipe!) or Merlot.
We hope you have a wonderful socially-distant Labor Day weekend with friends and family. Take time to relax and enjoy the sunshine while you still can. Don’t forget to tag us in all your photos using #UncleCharleys on Facebook or Instagram.
